Life gets busy. There’s no way around it. No matter how put together you are, life has a tendency to get hectic and, sometimes, overwhelming. We all have different coping mechanisms for this. For many of us it’s embracing a hobby. Some simple tasks or processes that make us feel good about ourselves so we don’t mind pushing through the rest of the day. It can be really hard, however, to find time for these hobbies.
I’ve also noticed, personally, that when I don’t get to spend enough time on a hobby it feels like I’ve had no time at all. For example, if I play s video game for one hour two nights a week, and each time I stop playing I think “I wish I just had one more hour,” eventually those feelings change from “I want more time” to “I don’t have enough time” to “I have no time.” It’s really easy to find myself feeling hopeless, like I have no time for myself even when I’ve been able to dedicate several hours a week to my hobbies.
Because of this, I created a simple scheduler that allows me to view my hobbies, and their dedicated nights, all at once, or I can see today’s tasks in a “focused” view. The main purpose of this is simply to provide a reminder or some peace-of-mind to myself that I am, in fact, scheduling time for myself, even if it doesn’t feel that way.
This project has lots of room to grow so follow me on Twitter to keep an eye out for future updates.
